1916 New Vasco cache

A new Vasco cache just discovered at the State Library of Queensland. Seems to have been centred around the Toowong Bowling Club in 1916. Attached portrait is 'Dibs', possibly HJC Diddams, twice Mayor of Brisbane. Would love to know where this collection was once hung and how it got to the SLQ.

Vasco Loureiro (1882-1918)

Vasco (aka Louis Vasco) was an Australian postcard artist and intinerent caricaturist who travelled widely. His drawings provide a fascinating insight into various aspects of daily life and many are associated with significant historical events. Some of these drawings have survived and are now turning up in different parts of the world.

This blog is being written as part of a research project that will produce both a PhD and an illlustrated biography.

The blog has been created as an experiment in web-based research methodology. There are still some mysteries and a number of gaps in the Vasco story and there will almost certainly be undiscovered Vasco artworks out there somewhere. The hope is that readers of this blog may be able to help fill some of the gaps or uncover 'a Vasco'.
