1917 Western Front Vasco's CO, Major Donaldson, 11th Field Company RAE
Have just noticed comment re Vasco on The Great War Forum regarding Vasco's commanding officer during World War I, Major Donaldson. The AWM has an image of Major Donaldson and also a Vasco caricature entitled Don. (The Great War Forum: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=176125&hl=vasco)

A great find! We'll have to let the war memorial know!
ReplyDeleteHi Paul
ReplyDeletethought you might like to know we have just started a blog on Flinders Station and its role in Melbourne's history and life. We have used a great little postcard by Vasco from the State Library of Victoria as one of our first images.

Thanks Liz
DeleteThe postcard was used to arrange a meeting under the clock at Flinder's St Station on the evening of the day it was sent. At a time when there were three mail deliveries a day in the urban area and before most people had a home phone, it must have been like an early version of texting.
